No Need for Ties With the US

Iranians, whether officials or the public, should safeguard and promote the interests of Iran at home, in the region, and throughout the world, rather than the vested interests of the US in this country.
This was the gist of the message of the Leader of the Islamic Revolution in his memorable address yesterday in Tehran to thousands of visitors from Qom on the eve of the 47th anniversary of the uprising of the people of the Holy City that accelerated the Islamic Revolution against Pahlavi tyranny and American hegemony.
He made it clear that in view of the unabated plots of the US and continued hostility against the people of Iran, there is no need to negotiate with such an avowed enemy.
Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei said the notion that since Iran is having relations with European countries it should thus have ties with the United States as well “is misguided”.
He added that there is a big difference, since “the US [acted as if it] owned Iran, which was seized back from its claws (in February 1979)” – by the revolutionary masses inspired by the leadership of the Father of the Islamic Revolution, Imam Khomeini (RA).
These enlightened remarks should awaken the naïve who call for some sort of understanding with Washington in the misconstrued hope of lifting of sanctions. They should open up their eyes to the lingering grudge of the US against the Islamic Republic, to undermine which, it has incurred heavy costs over the past 46 years.
It is time some of the officials participating in policy-making and seeming to be under illusion that the incoming US president might be more hostile than the outgoing one, realize that thanks to God Almighty and the sanctions busting achievements of Iranian strategists and scientists, Washington has long been defeated.
In other words, even though Iranian economy has suffered some harm, no American regime, whether Democrat or Republican can do anything against the iron-resolve of the Islamic Republic and the Iranian people.
To be more precise, as long as the US exists it will never give up its enmity towards the Islamic Republic and the Iranian people, since its main aim is to re-establish its hegemony through deception, through threats, through terrorism, and the like, but will utterly fail.
