Iranians from the early days of civilization have been industrious and highly dexterous persons with their talents spanning a wide variety of fields.
Perhaps, today’s fuel-dependent and militarized world may think that the people of Iran, especially their experts in the field of science and technology are mainly concerned with oil and gas, as well as development of the nuclear fuel cycle and weapons to defend their territorial integrity and national sovereignty in the face of US hegemony.
Of course, Iran has every right to possess the cutting-edge technology in these fields, but there are wide variety of industries in which Iranian artisans have made their mark as masters of different crafts.
The famous Persian carpets need no introduction and we need not dwell on these masterpieces of art woven like pieces of poetry.
Another craft, in which Iranians excel and have transformed it into “poetry in motion” with eye-catching floral and geometric designs is the ceramic industry.
In fact, Iran ranks fifth in the world in ceramic manufacture. This art has its origin in the city of Kashan and its districts.
Known since time immemorial as “kashi-kari’, it is a flourishing industry though some have the misconception that it is limited to mosques, religious places and ancient palaces and monuments
It is not, and today in various colourful patterns it adorns walls and floors of homes, offices, and marketplaces.
Iran exports some forty percent of its ceramic products to several world countries.
Iran is the fifth producer of ceramic and tiles in the world, in terms of size. It is also the fifth exporter of this product to the world.
Recently, Iran hosted the 29th International Exhibition of Sanitary Porcelain Tile and Ceramics Exhibition.
Producers of tiles, ceramics, and sanitary ware, as well as manufacturers of machinery, tools, and equipment for the industry, display their latest products in this four-day exhibition.
The event also includes participants from related sectors, such as glaze and paint industries, raw materials suppliers, and faucet and sanitary fittings providers.
Key objectives of the exhibition include boosting exports, exploring new export markets, identifying the sector’s potential and existing capacities, fostering innovation, and providing a platform for domestic and foreign investors.
To sum up, Iran’s versatility in various fields including traditional and modern make it an indomitable able to defeat the sanctions of the US and the plots of all other enemies of the Islamic Republic.
